Dana Baco and Fia Pupualii are two of our proud Czech and Samoan team members, who live and share their cultural heritage with us at work every day. Here, they share what diversity means at snapfresh, from food and language to values and traditions.
Across snapfresh, our team members bring rich traditions, values, and perspectives from around the world. It’s this diversity that strengthens our decisions, our business outcomes, and our sense of community.
As Dana, Product & Pricing Officer at snapfresh, says: “I am Czech and I love to cook and bake our traditional food for my family. I share our traditional Christmas cookies with my team. It’s a little way of sharing my culture with others.”
Living diversity every day
For Fia, Area Champion at snapfresh, her Samoan heritage is woven into her daily life. “Respect, practices, values and beliefs are part of my daily routine, like speaking my mother tongue and cooking traditional food,” she shares.
Fia has also brought her culture into the workplace through Samoan singing, dancing and shared lunches. “We all bring different foods and traditions to the table – literally!” she laughs.
At snapfresh, diversity isn’t a buzzword – it’s part of who we are. Our team consists of 95 nationalities, who speak 102 languages, and bring a wealth of cultural insight that shapes how we work, learn and grow together.
But this cultural diversity isn’t just something we acknowledge only during Harmony Week or cultural observances – it’s something we live and celebrate every day. We believe that our differences don’t divide us – they power us forward.
Diversity at snapfresh can be seen in the way we collaborate, support one another, and respect each other’s views and backgrounds. “Learning about different traditions, beliefs and opinions on life makes our workplace vibrant and open-minded,” says Dana. “Staff really support each other, ensuring everyone feels welcome. Managers make sure we all feel like part of the team.”
Fia agrees: “snapfresh is a multicultural workplace where people from different backgrounds work together as a team to improve our business,” she says. “You feel included. We support each other during challenges, and the attitude here is really open-minded.”
This openness and mutual respect translate into real business benefits. With such a broad mix of cultural perspectives, we believe we make more informed and creative decisions. “Various cultures can boost creativity,” Dana points out. Fia adds, “Decision-making is stronger when we combine unique viewpoints and experiences.”
Diversity also drives a strong sense of psychosocial safety, which is something that Fia sees as a key ingredient in our organisation’s culture. “People feel comfortable to share ideas to make things better in our work areas,” she says. “Raising awareness, especially about safety, is something we do well.”
